Essential oils and skincare benefits

Apr 5, 2019 | Articles

Essential oils are a source from nature with divine smell. They are natural plant extracts derived mainly through distillation from plants of all kinds. They contribute to holistic health and wellness, and have significant skincare benefits.

Magical scent

Yes, there is absolutely natural magic cought in the scent of each essential oil. At this reason, I still remember my first experience with essential oils (shortly EO’s). The aroma of essential oils made me totally lifted, and I could not stop smelling them. I was sitting in my sofa, and taking my first 3 bottles I bought in front of my nose to get another smell. And just repeating and repeating 😊

This was my first overwhelming holistic experience with EO’s with relaxing and balancing feeling. Since then my collection of EO’s have become wider and wider.

Skin penetration of essential oils

I can not imagine not to use essential oils in my beauty products. I haven’t done even one product so far without using any essential oils. It’s a must have for my practice.

As a producer of natural cosmetics I always use 100% natural essential oils . It’s important to take quality EO’s to get  best of them.

Why? The molecules of EO’s penetrate the layers of skin. They can be used by the skin cells themselves. Or they just pass through cells into the bloodstream. In this case they are transported around the body to help maintain healthy functioning organs (eg heart, lungs, stomach, kidney, liver, etc) and systems (eg circulatory, respiratory, digestive, nervous, hormones, etc).

Skincare benefits of essential oils

Whenever I do my beauty products, I take additional EO’s to improve positive effects for the skin. Not only the smell, but also benefits of EO’s are just fantastic. Here you can find some of them. But the list is even longer 😊

  • Regenerate healthy skin cells quickly and effeciently;
  • Cleanse and clean, smooth and soften, moisturize and hydrate;
  • Stimulate local blood circulation;
  • Tighten and tone the skin, giving bigger strenght and elasticity;
  • Delay the signs of premature aging and soften fine lines and wrinkles.

A blend of geranium and frankincense EO’s is 100% antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, antioxidant, for dry or damaged skin, oily skin, scars, wounds. It’s also good for emotional states, relaxation and against stress or despression.

Face cream / face oil for oily skin:

A blend of geranium and clary sage EO’s is 100% antibacterial, anti inflammatory, antifungal, for acne, oily skin or eczema, for dry or combination skin. It’s also good for relaxation, PMS, menstrual condition, nervousness, etc.

Safely using essential oils

We must remember that EO’s are highly concentrated chemical compounds. That’s why they must be used only in very small amounts (1%-2%). They must not be applied neat to the skin. Therefore, they must be dilluted in a carrier substance. EO’s should not be ingested. They are flammable and should be kept away from children or pets.

At this point, it is also important to recognise that essential oils are not a substitute for conventional medical treatment and where symptoms exist and persist, a GP must be consulted.
