Sunday is slowly coming to an end. Before it quietly turns into a new day, I’d like to share a few reflections from the past few weeks.
Over the last several weekends, I’ve spent my time at markets, talking with many people about their skin. Every conversation was different, yet many of them shared something in common.
A desire for calmer skin.
Many people come with skin that is sensitive, reactive, dry, or irritated. Some have been searching for relief for years. Others simply hope to find a product that doesn’t leave their skin feeling tight, stinging, or uncomfortable.
These conversations always leave me thinking.
What does truly comfortable skin actually mean?
Is it perfect skin?
Skin without pores, redness, wrinkles, or imperfections?
Or is comfortable skin simply skin that feels good?
Skin that feels soft, at ease, and safe.
Sometimes I feel that, surrounded by images of flawless skin, we’ve almost forgotten how important it is to pay attention to how our skin actually feels.
Skin is not just something we see in the mirror.
It is part of us. And the way we care for it often reflects the way we care for ourselves.
It is our largest organ, constantly communicating with us.
It tells us when it needs more gentleness.
When something isn’t working.
And sometimes, it tells us that it simply needs less.
Fewer products.
Less potential irritation.
Less of our constant desire to fix it.
Perhaps that’s why I don’t believe good skincare is about using more active ingredients or chasing the promise of perfection.
I believe it’s about supporting the skin and giving it the space to find its natural balance again.
Whenever I create a new IZISTEP formula, I always return to this question.
I don’t only ask myself what I could add.
More often, I ask myself what I can leave out.
How can a formulation remain effective while placing as little burden on the skin as possible?
I believe thoughtful skincare is often far more valuable than simply adding more.
And that’s why I continue listening to my own skin.
Listening.
Feeling.
Just as we listen to the things that truly matter to us.
Perhaps comfortable skin isn’t perfect skin after all.
Perhaps it’s simply skin that feels comfortable again.
And to me, that feeling is worth more than perfection.
I wish you a peaceful and beautiful week ahead.
